OCTOBER MILK AND EGGS GROCERY HAUL

OCTOBER MILK AND EGGS GROCERY HAUL

***UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 2020: UNFORTUNATELY MILK AND EEGS IS NO LONGER AN OPERATING BUSINESS. I DID HAVE A GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH THEM THEREFORE I WILL KEEP THE BLOG POST UP, HOWEVER, THEY NO LONGER OFFER SERVICES.***

As many of you may already know I have been using the service Milk and Eggs for over a year and a half now. This service delivers all my grocery store needs, farmer’s market goods, and fresh produce straight to my doorstep bright and early! After a recent serious accident I was involved in I found myself completely unable to visit the grocery store for the simple fact that I could not carry or lift my grocery bags! Milk and Eggs became my saving grace! This service brought me back to a healthy life this month and I am so happy to share with you my October Haul! I am back in the kitchen and ready to whip up so many healthy recipes with my fresh produce brought to you by Milk and Eggs! Let’s take a look! And don’t forget to check out this code for $20 OFF your first order on Milk and Eggs!

FRUITS

Strawberries, raspberries, apples, bananas, and lemons & limes for a few recipes I had up my sleeve! Turns out adding lime juice to tortilla soup is the key to making it so flavorful! And adding lemon to my chicken breasts while they are cooking in the oven!

VEGETABLES

Remember when I said I am trying to get back to my healthy self again? Well here is my attempt! Loads of veggies including spinach, romaine, kale, onion, cauliflower, celery, bell pepper, asparagus, and avocado. I don’t normally like celery or kale on its own but the tortilla soup recipe I was cooking from the book “The Plant Paradox” called for the celery to be minced and the kale was an additional topping in the soup and I can’t taste either! Great way to trick myself into eating the veggies I am not too fond of! I also don’t particularly like cauliflower on its own so I am going to make buffalo cauliflower baked in the oven! As for the pumpkins, well it’s fall and those are for decoration!

MEAT

To be honest I go through phases when it comes to meat. I am not sure what it is but I will be all for cooking chicken and then the next week I am suddenly plant based only and meatless meats. This week Chicken Lime Tortilla Soup and Salsa Verde Chicken Burrito Bowls were on the menu so it is a chicken kind of week!

DAIRY

This was my first time buying brown eggs.. Ever! The reason being was the cook book I am utilizing said Omega-3 eggs are the healthiest on the market. I will have to get back to you on whether or not they taste different but I will be making avocado deviled eggs with them mixing avocado and dijon mustard. “The Plant Paradox” also says goat cheese is the best so why not try out this new vegan goatless cheese with cranberry and dill. Not going to lie it is pretty good and perfect for a holiday cheese platter with crackers!

SNACKS

The reason you don’t see much here is because I am trying really hard to snack more on fruits and vegetables! BUT I don’t think I have ever ordered Milk and Eggs without including my all-time favorite hummus and dips made by Brothers Products. I love going to the Sunday Farmer’s Market to pick up my hummus BUT with my busy work schedule Milk and Eggs has made the market one less thing I need to worry about. The plan is to dip away with veggies like bell pepper BUT I may sneak a few chips here and there! The A-SHA Seaweed Snacks were a first time purchase. To be honest I thought they were just Nori Seaweed Sheets but turns out they have more of a crunchy chip texture to them! They are really good and you can even spread some avocado on the top for a light snack.
